Welcome to Egypt and the beginning of your AbelaX Amisol Eclipse Express III journey.

Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, meet your local representative for welcome assistance before transferring privately to your hotel.

After breakfast, meet your Egyptologist and begin at one of the world's most celebrated archaeological landscapes , the Giza Plateau.

Stand before the Great Pyramid of Khufu, discover the Pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure and visit the legendary Great Sphinx.

Continue to the magnificent Grand Egyptian Museum, allowing sufficient time to explore its extraordinary collections and gain a deeper understanding of Ancient Egyptian civilisation.

Enjoy lunch during the sightseeing programme.

Tonight, the Rail Journey Begins

Later, transfer to Cairo Railway Station and board the Abela Elite Sleeper Train for your overnight journey south.

Settle into your sleeping cabin as Cairo disappears behind you and the train travels through the Nile Valley towards Aswan.

ASWAN • PHILAE TEMPLE • FELUCCA ON THE NILE

Arrive in Aswan and meet your local guide.

Begin your exploration with a visit to the beautiful Temple of Philae, dramatically located on an island and reached by motorboat.

After sightseeing, transfer to your hotel and check in.

Later in the afternoon, board a traditional felucca for a relaxed sailing experience around Aswan's islands and the beautiful Nile landscapes.

Optional Experience

A visit to a Nubian Village can be arranged for guests wishing to discover more about Nubian culture and local life.

Return to your hotel and enjoy an early night in preparation for Eclipse Day.

Eclipse Festival

An unforgettable day begins very early. At approximately 3:00 AM, transfer Luxor Aswan by Private bus arriving around 7:00 AM. Meet your Egyptologist and travel directly to Luxor's West Bank to explore the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Continue to the Abela × Amisol Total Solar Eclipse Festival on a specially selected green-field viewing site , with a reserved prime viewing area, individual guest space, chairs and umbrellas, water and soft drinks, light refreshments, Abela catering, a freshly grilled festival lunch, space for cameras and on-site coordination by Amisol Travel. Departure from the venue is planned from approximately 4:00 PM. In the evening, visit the magnificent Luxor Temple, especially atmospheric after sunset, then transfer to Luxor Railway Station and board the Abela Elite Sleeper Train back to Cairo. After breakfast, travel north from Sohag for a day that reveals two very different chapters of Egyptian history.

Begin with Tell el-Amarna, the extraordinary city established by Pharaoh Akhenaten as his new royal capital.

Explore selected archaeological remains connected with Akhenaten and the remarkable Amarna Period, one of the most fascinating and revolutionary episodes in Ancient Egyptian history.

The story of Amarna is inseparably connected with Akhenaten, Queen Nefertiti and the dramatic religious changes of their reign.

Continue to Jabal al-Tayr Monastery, an important site in Egypt's ancient Christian heritage.

Its setting and traditions provide a fascinating contrast to the pharaonic archaeology explored earlier in the day.

After the visits, return south to Sohag and your floating hotel.

ABYDOS & DENDERA, The Two Masterpieces of Ancient Egypt

After breakfast, depart Sohag for a full-day exploration of two of Upper Egypt's greatest temple complexes.

Abydos

Begin at Abydos, one of the most sacred cities of Ancient Egypt and an important centre of the cult of Osiris.

Visit the magnificent Temple of Seti I, renowned for the exceptional quality and preservation of its carved and painted reliefs.

Discover the famous Abydos King List, one of the most important surviving records of Ancient Egyptian rulers.

Dendera

Continue to Dendera and the spectacular Temple of Hathor.

Explore its monumental columns, richly decorated chambers and remarkable astronomical imagery.

Despite their extraordinary historical importance, both Abydos and Dendera receive considerably fewer international visitors than the monuments of Luxor, making today's experience one of the highlights of the Hidden Egypt section of our journey.

Return to Sohag in the evening.

After breakfast, explore two remarkable monuments of Egypt's early Christian heritage.

The White Monastery

Visit the historic White Monastery, traditionally associated with Saint Shenoute and one of the most important monastic sites in Upper Egypt.

Its imposing architecture reflects the strength of the early Christian monastic tradition that developed in this region.

The Red Monastery

Continue to the nearby Red Monastery, one of Egypt's outstanding early Christian monuments.

The monastery is particularly celebrated for the surviving decoration of its sanctuary and its importance in understanding the art and architecture of early Egyptian Christianity.

Together, the Red and White Monasteries reveal a completely different chapter of Egypt's history and demonstrate why Sohag deserves far greater attention from cultural travellers.

After the visits, return to the floating hotel and enjoy some free time.

Back Aboard the Eclipse Express

Later, at night, transfer to Sohag Railway Station and board the Abela Elite Sleeper Train for the overnight journey north to Cairo.

Settle into your cabin and enjoy a final rail journey through the Nile Valley.

Arrive in Cairo in the morning.

Afterwards, transfer to your hotel and check in.

The remainder of the day is deliberately free.
